Night of the living dead is an important movie, both culturally and in your training to survive the apocalypse. This time it's Living dead or Zombies as we call them today. We are going to analyse how some of the characters died.Spoilers! Don't read on if you don't want it ruined
Barbra- played by Judith O'Dea - First mistake is probably her most tragic leading to her death. She loses her cool and crashes her car into a tree. Always, always keep your cool. You need to develop a survivor mentality. We'll talk about that later. She uses some innovative weaponry (Start brushing up on it) grabbing a knife to fight and is the first to use fire- the most effective defense. She Dies for the same reason she lost her vehicle upon seeing her zombiefied lover she lets down her guard. Always keep your cool!
Harry and Helen Cooper played by Karl Hardman and Marilyn Eastman- The Two Fatal mistake that these two make are that of Dissent ion and Cowardice. Harry is a cause of contention to both his wife and the survivalist party choosing to split up. He elects a plan to hide out in the cellar with his family. Hiding out may be the way to survive, but his decision is made out of cowardice, and not a cool consideration once it has been determined to be the best decision possible. They also didn't have a back-up plan. They had no weapons, let their guard down, and were killed by their own little girl. The body of which, they should have burned upon discovering her dead. It's a hard decision for parents to make, but they need to honor her body by not allowing it to be desecrated by becoming a zombie.
Last of all, Ben- played by Duane Jones- Go watch this movie , Ben stands out as one of the most methodical and innovative survivors that there is. He has the right mix of courage and tact, he keeps his weapon with him (almost always). He even shows capacity as a leader, even coming to blows to defend the collective lives of the group. He even survives until the rescue party comes. Unfortunately he gets taken out by a rescue party sniper. So, though it sounds silly and unimportant, he needed to distinguish himself from the living dead perhaps by moving fast or speaking loudly. I'm not sure how he could have. What do you think?
